Analogue Dial-up
Analogue dial-up is a dial-on-demand Internet connection that operates through a normal telephone line. It is currently the most common method of Internet and email access in South Africa. Costs exclude: the normal phone line rental and normal call costs for time spent online. |
Choose analogue access if: you only go online occasionally, for short periods. This is the slowest type of connection (a maximum of 56Kbps - kilobytes per second), but also generally the cheapest, and is therefore ideal for the home office user.
If you are already spending more than R 650 a month on an analogue dial-up connection, then consider upgrading to ISDN or ADSL.
